Compass 03:26
am I in a dream is all what it seems or a tragedy swim to the shore our memory fades I want you to send her to find it and carry us home we’ve lost you again where are the pleasant reminders I’m thrown to the floor they’ll find our remains washed up and telling our story then bury the bones I’m not sure if I’ll follow water’s become shallow it’s so far to fall it just doesn’t seem possible now we’re abandoning all it’s too easy to say that it’s nobody’s fault am I in a dream or a tragedy swim to the shore are these end of days when all of the pleasant reminders are thrown overboard we’ll be forgotten in no time we won’t remember ourselves we’ve lost you again never to be found

77 Summer 03:55
there’s a time that’s real hard to recall but easy to feel I taught myself to swim swim in circles breath on hold look up look out we’re growing white sand burning skin feel the deeper water’s cold look up look out we’re growing old under the summer sun don’t be fooled you won’t even feel it slip away under the summer sun such a big world such a big world daylight’s fading fast will you come out again look up look out it’s glowing streetlight swarm above stretching shadows at our feet look up look out we’re growing old under the summer sun don’t be fooled you won’t even feel it slip away don’t lose the summer sun in such a big world such a big world if there’s still daylight can we go back again if there’s still daylight

I can’t get used to this house full of loneliness talking to myself pretending that you’re there it’s a story of sad cliches far from from memories days we used to know one step sideways then forward then back again caught off balance ’til we’re walking through the walls there’s so much we don’t talk about we just dance around such an empty show stay with me stay with me oh I’m holding on tight to your ghost ‘cause you’ve disappeared here goes nothing I’m letting go look me in the eye run away or stay this time I never thought I’d have to see through parts of you are you telling the truth this time there’s no finding out there’s no finding you signs of weakness I couldn’t feel vulnerable all good wishes and favors don’t say enough like your love they’ve gone quiet now not the strong pale beauty I used to know
4.
following tracks back to you through summer steam secret reunion only leaves us tired you’re more myself than I am felt this way back even when the signs are all inside just had to be another night on dreary lane I get the feeling though you’re beside me ask you to wait you know I haven’t told you where or even when the sounds around there’s someone calling fly away still can’t shake it off our day will come soon don’t stop for me if I can’t look you in the eye over my shoulder find a place to hide ask you to wait you know I haven’t told you why or even when the sounds around there’s someone following the sounds around there’s someone following fly away still can’t shake it off our day will come soon
5.
such a screwball I try to hide since I threw it all away so what’s the problem with losing ties before I do this all again so you knew it all the time and all I had to do was so what’s your deal boy did she get inside did she tell you you’d be saved you’re just a new toy lose your mind but you just turn the other way so you knew it all the time and all I had to do was try
6.
sometime I’d like to be with you but the question to answer is if you ever would sadly it came out in pieces fell so hard to the floor with our wishes given up time feels wasted time feels lost we called to save you it’s nice to meet you we’ll see you off but I’ll still cheer you on my thoughts are crowded I’m a coward can’t listen mouth to mouth - such an awkward position oh no laid it out all so neatly trying ever so sweetly to let it go time feels wasted time feels lost we called to save you it’s nice to meet you it’s not enough but I’ll still cheer you on point the way I’ll breathe you in now it’s too late to stop spent a long time refusing to see sides of you that are all I can feel now left a trail of confusion where nothing is real so I’m left of nowhere now don't know how you're giving this up now it's too late

Ending Song 03:03
I’ve been here before but with you it’s hard to forget that tonight the low flame into deep sea blue letting me know the day’s gone for my love there’s no sundown we carried it as far as we could easy to see you were tired in ways we both misunderstood you were letting me know our day’s gone now my love there’s nothing holding you down here tonight laughing for hours at the faces we made trading our fools in a seaside parade a forest of fireworks above knee deep in saltwater waves so now my love there’s nothing holding you down here tonight

about

Carousel Swan is a songwriting and recording project that began in 2013 when longtime friends Casey Virock and Jason Knox decided to record some acoustic songs together as a side project. Casey had been performing and recording since 2005 with the power trio Porcupine, while Jason had spent years creating music for theatre productions and corporate videos. However, they shared an affinity for colorful pop music artists from the 60s, 70s, and 80s (The Beatles, XTC, and Echo and the Bunnymen, to name a few) and they wanted to experiment with writing and recording as a duo with no concern for how the songs might be performed live. With Casey living in La Crosse, WI and Jason living in Chicago, IL (and more recently Portland, OR), their process was slow but steady, and it provided time for their sound to evolve over a few years from a purely acoustic project to the more densely layered combination of acoustic and electric elements that are found on this debut release.
